Happy Tuesday everyone!!
Is it starting to feel like fall where you are yet? It’s officially Autumn and I’m super excited! SO ready to say goodbye to summer and welcome cool, clear weather, falling leaves and cozy nights. It also means it’s time to Decorate for Fall and I wanted to add small simple touches around the house. As much as I’m trying to lighten things up I went back to reds and browns with mixes of orange. They are the colors of autumn, I see them everywhere and I love bringing them inside. In the spirit of simplicity I wanted to use what I had on hand which wasn’t much, a pack of leaves, a small welcome sign, some candles, battery operated tea lights and two hurricane jars. I also had some recycled glass jars I wanted to do something with and found the perfect solution on Pinterest. Other than that, nada.
One of the good things about living in a small space is a little decorating goes a long way, simple touches are all it takes. To keep things on the cheap l hit up the dollar store and came home with two packs of leaves, three packs of mini decorations, a small scarecrow and a craft pumpkin. On a trip to Home Goods I picked up a fabric covered pumpkin.
I have a couple shelves in the living room I LOVE decorating for the holidays. I used my welcome sign from last year, got the scarecrow from the dollar store and found the pumpkin in one of my mom’s closets. The milk jar and twig are always out and so is the frame.
I made some autumn lanterns with the recycled glass jars, a couple fake leaves some twine and battery operated tealight candles. The small topiary sits in that spot the majority of the year.
I have a glass hanging thing (not sure what it’s called) by the front door that I filled with mini pumpkins and gourds.
The media center got a simple update. I wrapped two books with the same decorative paper I used in the entry , filled the hurricane jars with leftover lentils and tied two fake leaves around the candles with some twine, I picked up that adorable pumpkin at Home Goods.
I can’t sew worth a stitch so I asked my beautiful and talented niece for some help. I gave her one and a half packs of the fake leaves and asked her to sew them together to create a garland.
I love the way the autumn luminary looks when the tea lights are on, it has such a beautiful glow.
Have you started decorating for fall yet? What will you be using in your home, are you making, buying or a bit of both?
